Energy Standards designed to confuse ...
In NSW it's Basix.
In Victoria, SA and WA it's 5 Star.
In Tas, 4 Star.
QLD and NT have yet to set their standards.
But energy wastage is a national, indeed global, problem!
Surely the states could get their acts together.
Wherever you are, remember that the Governments set MINIMUM standards for energy efficient building. With a little forethought you can do so much better - sticking to your budget while you're at it!

For example, take a look at this photo.
It speaks volumes about sustainable building.
• Walls of double glass for a bright interior.
• Carefully angled shading to catch winter sun (but exclude summer sun).
• Flooring that soaks up solar warmth for cosy evenings
• Curtains! What curtains? Even in winter, the garden outlook is lovely and the double glazing insulates better than expensive curtains.
• uPVC window frames to prevent transfer of heat and cold.
• Generous window openings to catch evening breezes.
• Rated 6+ Stars in Victoria
The house hardly ever needs heating or air-conditioning. And when it does, it's only for short, economical bursts. Heating or cooling money is saved by the superior insulation throughout the house ... ceiling, floor, walls, double glazing and uPVC window frames!
Our FREE workshops will show you how
If you really want to live more comfortably and slash your gas and power bills, come to one of our regular workshops and pick up the tricks of the trade - all the thinking that went into the house above.
All the techniques you will learn are standard procedure in the USA and Europe where severe weather and high energy bills make sustainable building the common sense way to go.
After a cuppa and question time, you'll finish the evening with a solid background on the standards you must demand of your building designer and builder.
Our sustainable building workshops are free for anyone building new homes or renovating. Book your tickets on 1800 0620 100
